I loved everything. The house is absolutely stunning. The welcome we received was warm and friendly. Walking in one knows that the ocean is close by as the place is tastefully decorated. The breakfasts are superb. The coffee is excellent. Dirk is an amazing host.

Charming, cozy, quiet, clean, and the location in Melkbosstrand is unbeatable. I had a solo mom reset weekend - perfect surf spot and stunning beach is steps away, great restaurants are just a few blocks away, there’s a lovely small garden patio attached to read and write (and dry suits). I’ll definitely be back!

Awesome place.

Awesome place. We probably chose the best three days in the last 12 months to be on the beach. Busy but uncluttered beach with restaurants in close proximity. Strongly recommended if avoiding massive crowds is your thing.

Melkbostrand is a quite nice sea side village on the start/...

Melkbostrand is a quite nice sea side village on the start/end of the wildflower route on the West coast. Very relaxed with very good restaurants and a small convenient mall. The only nu clear plant in SA is closed by and entrance to their wildlife park is for free. They also have a information centre explaining how nu clear power is created. Best place to take spectacular pictures of Table Mountain.

Beautiful little village feel.

Beautiful little village feel. Lovely for a weekend break and the location is picturesque. Big tip: book online at the restaurants before you come. Most places only accept online bookings and they get full really quickly!!

Melkbosstrand is a lovely, unpretentious old-fashioned...

Melkbosstrand is a lovely, unpretentious old-fashioned seaside town with a long, firm beach along the Atlantic ocean. There are supermarkets, filling stations, restaurants and coffee bars for each taste and budget. Nearby is a championship golf course and sports centre with Padel and tennis courts. The West Coast offers many attractions and is delightfully open and wild, yet easily accessible from Cape Town and the International airport.

The host is unfriendly and the facilities poor.

The host is unfriendly and the facilities poor. Although the location is fantastic, short stays will be less frustrating. There is bore hole water and when the electricity goes off, either because of load shedding or just because, and this happens all the time, there is no emergency lighting (even if the owner have solar) and no water. This venue is not customer focused.

I liked the walking paths, shops and restaurants.

I liked the walking paths, shops and restaurants. The people are very friendly and kind. The scenery is also a winner. Only one downside, is the early closing time of the restaurants on the weekends. Avoid going out for a late snack, as most places will be closed. (We had to drive to Table View for Steers)

Sadly the entire area had a water interruption for 36 hours about 12 hours after our arrival which made things difficult. Perhaps the facility needs to look at using the mains water supply to feed 4 x 10 000L tanks and for the water for the facility to come from a pressure pump from the tanks. Where there is a water interruption, which will start to happen more frequently in the Western Cape as the population exceeds the water source, there will still be water in the hotel. So this affected the start of our stay. But everything was perfect.

Location was good as the view from the deck and lounge was basically uninterrupted. Melkbosstrand is also a bit out of the busy Cape Town but near enough to visit the main attractions there. We love Melkbos!
