Joy’s Folly was originally established in the 1950’s as ‘Elandra Holiday Flats’ and was operated by Joy and David Stanton from 1975 until 2021. Together, Joy and David welcomed guests from around Australia; many returning year after year to enjoy the unique location, friendly hospitality and recreational activities on offer beach side. In 2022, the property was passed on to the next generation and has since been renovated and reimagined, reminiscent of the 1950’ 60’ and 70’s when guests mingled over a beer and a barbeque, the kids spent all day entertaining themselves at the beach; and cricket was played safely at twilight on the back streets. We have chosen the name ‘Joy’s Folly’ as a dedication to our mother who ran ‘Elandra Holiday Flats’ for over 40 years. We hope you’ll feel at home in our company and enjoy the magnificent beaches, wealth of food, wine, entertainment and history available on the spectacular Mornington Peninsula.

Joy’s Folly is a family friendly holiday destination featuring four fully self-contained renovated and reimagined 1950’s and 60’s Beach Houses. The property is located directly opposite the calm waters of the Tootgarook beach and is set amongst native gardens, gravel paths and lush lawns. Designed to accommodate 16 adults at any time, the property is well suited to individual and/or larger group bookings (i.e. Wedding parties, golfing groups or extended family get aways), without compromise to individual privacy often experienced in larger single accommodation. Joy’s Folly is situated between the major townships of Rosebud and Rye. The property enjoys immediate access through flora and fauna reserves on to the clear and clean waters of the Capel Sound Beach. The water is perfect for swimmers of any age, beach cricket at low tide, kayaking, windsurfing, paddle boarding, jet skiing and general boating. Idyllically, there is no public camping in the nearby vicinity of Joy’s Folly. The ‘Bay Trail (i.e., the shared biking and walking trail), meanders directly past Joy’s Folly and continues to historic Sorrento in one direction and Dromana in the other. Cafes, restaurants, hotels, and major supermarkets are all accessible from Joy’s Folly without the need for a car.
