Bwthyn Ysgubor is hidden in verdant pasture near the banks of the Afon Conwy river as it winds its way through its incredibly scenic valley. Converted in 2025, the cottage sits in its own well stocked walled garden with flowers, vegetables and espalier fruit trees. The world famous Bodnant Gardens are nearby so there must be something in the air or soil around here!

The medieval town of Conwy is at the mouth of the valley. As well as the incredible 13th century castle, you can easily spend a day or two here exploring the narrow streets, waterfront and other historic buildings. Llandudno is also nearby, with a wonderful promenade, pier and the Great Orme. It is also the main shopping town with a big M&S. Nearer to home, there are several walks you can take directly from Bwthyn, including one down to the river bank. Bodnant Garden is just two miles south of us by car or bike. North Wales has many lovely beaches and one of the best – and least known - is nearby, just outside of Conwy (Morfa Conwy). Miles of sandy beach, clear water, rarely busy and a pub at the start / end. A few miles south of Bwthyn Ysgubor, are Llanrwst and Betws y Coed offering a wealth of outdoor activities (our favourites are cycling on the gravel tracks of Gwydir Forest (excellent bike hire from Llanrwst), walking around Llyn Crafnant (easy 2.5 miles) and, when our children were younger, the treetop adventure just north of Betws y Coed). Eyryi (Snowdon) is a bit further on and has many superb walks & hiking trails. Bounce Below and Zip World are also both within easy reach. There are some excellent art galleries (including the Royal Cambrian), great pubs (the award winning traditional 'Albion' in Conwy is one of our favourites) and fantastic restaurants, from fine dining at the Bryn Williams restaurant at Porth Eirias to great local food at Dylans
