Just five minutes from Moffat town centre, Clarefoot Cottage is a charming two bedroom self catering annex to the historic Clarefoot Residence, built in 1875, with stunning views of the Moffat Hills. The cottage offers parking for up to four cars, dedicated Wi-Fi, and a secure enclosed dog run. Inside you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen with hob, oven, microwave, fridge freezer and Nespresso machine, plus a cosy lounge diner with Smart TV. Upstairs has a modern bathroom with walk in shower and a spacious king room, while the top floor offers a large twin. Both bedrooms include blackout curtains, hairdryer, fresh linens and towels.
We moved to Moffat in 2023 and quickly fell in love with the town and its stunning surroundings. We only wish we had made the move sooner! My husband and I live here with our two lively working cocker spaniels, and after years of living in different places including Melbourne, we feel truly settled. Hosting Clarefoot Cottage has been a joy and we are always looking for little ways to make it even better for guests. While we do not always get to meet everyone in person, we love welcoming people to Moffat and sharing this special part of Scotland. Life here is a little slower and we enjoy long walks, fresh air, and the great community spirit we have found. On a personal note, we were delighted to become grandparents for the first time in June 2025 which has made this new chapter of life in Moffat even more special.
Moffat is a vibrant conservation town in the heart of Southern Scotland, less than a mile from the A74(M) and perfectly placed between Edinburgh, Glasgow and Carlisle. Known for its warm welcome, Moffat is full of independent shops, cosy cafés, traditional pubs, great restaurants and even a theatre. Explore Scotland’s first modern wood fired distillery, wander galleries, or browse the monthly farmers market. Outdoors, discover the dramatic Grey Mare’s Tail waterfall, stargaze in Europe’s first Dark Sky town, or enjoy walking, cycling, fishing and golf surrounded by breath-taking scenery. With its mix of heritage, culture and natural beauty, Moffat is the perfect base for exploring Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders.
