Other things to note As the gateway to the beautiful Peak District National Park, an abundance of Peak District towns and villages such as Edale, Castleton, and the famous spa town of Buxton are all within a 30-minute drive, together with the ever-popular market town of Bakewell and magnificent Chatsworth House, 45 minutes away. Slightly closer to home you’ll find the award-winning Millennium Walkway, and superb Torr’s sandstone gorge at New Mills, 15 minutes away. The wonderful village of Hayfield neighbours Glossop and is popular with walkers due its close proximity to Kinder Scout. Hayfield caters well for tourists with its own collection of pubs, cafés and restaurants. If you’re looking for city life, the bright lights of Manchester are just a half hour’s drive away, or 30 minutes on a direct train from Glossop. Shop 170 yards, pub and restaurant 20 yards.
