Sheila's Cottage is a haven of nature and tranquility, surrounded by trees, and set very high up on the bank of the West Lyn River, about half an mile inland from the sea at Lynmouth. It is an old but recently renovated and very cosy 3 bedroom cottage sleeping five people. Inside, it has all mod cons (WiFi, flatscreen TV, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, hot water on demand, secondary glazing and very effective central heating). Please note children under 7 years old are not allowed due to the cottage being situated on a site with steep steps and drops. Dogs and other animals are not permitted. It is not recommended for individuals with severe allergies to damp as the entire area is very wet all year round - a day without some form of rain, mist or drizzle is unusual! It is not recommended for individuals with mobility issues as the cottage is accessed up 38 steps from the roadside.

I use the cottage myself as often as possible as an escape from city life. I love the walks locally, and enjoy a swim in the sea or the river. I love bringing friends and family to visit. The cottage is packed with board games for all ages - Monkey Bingo is a particular after dinner favourite for all ages! Or we'll watch a movie on the TV.

Upon booking guests will be sent the cottage information pack which contains a wealth of information on things to do locally as well as everything you need to know about the cottage, including how to get there and how to make the most of it once you're there. Outdoor life is the main attraction locally, with incredible walks available all over Exmoor, plus surfing, sea swimming, water sports, and of course the legendary Devon cream tea! The cottage is well equipped with guide books to the area including lovely walks and wild swimming walks. Maps are provided too, as well as a folder of leaflets for local attractions for all ages. In Lynton and Lynmouth you'll find a good range of shops including small grocery stores and a pharmacist, and plenty of pubs and restaurants. There are also tennis courts, mini golf, and boat trips. If you enjoy horse riding there are a number of riding stables in the area offering hacks and lessons for all ages and abilities.
