Company info

We think Snowdonia is a fabulous place to live and work. It has everything - the highest mountains, beautiful lakes and rivers, masses of outdoor activities, historic castles, and a beautiful coastline all within a short drive of Betws y coed. We love the peace & quiet; walking and cycling and the sheer enjoyment of being so close to nature. We are keen walkers and have personally climbed many of Snowdonia's high mountains and explored the wonderfully varied lower level walks through the Gwydyr forest. We have compiled walking routes and directions for many of these which we offer to our guests. We have welcomed guests from all over the world and we are pleased and proud that they have enjoyed their stay so much and given us such wonderful compliments.

Property info

Tanya and Richard Edwards took over The Courthouse in March 2014. Richard was previously the Tourism Manager for a local authority in Sussex; and has worked in travel and tourism management for most of his career. Tanya has also spent her career to date in the hospitality industry. The Courthouse is unique - originally the police station and courthouse for the Betws y coed area it is steeped in history and full of character. Since taking over the present owners have re-decorated all the guest rooms, replaced all the soft furnishings, carpets and beds and introduced lots of special touches to reflect the history and character of the building. A unique feature which is loved by our guests is the River Conwy which flows past the garden and is overlooked by 2 of our 5 guest bedrooms.

Neighborhood info

Betws y coed truly is the "Gateway to Snowdonia". It lies at the confluence of 3 river valleys and straddles the A5 trunk road from London to Holyhead, yet is a lovely, tranquil and scenic village. The river Lugwy cascades through the village on its way from the mountains to the sea and is a spawning ground for salmon as well as other species. At the famous Pont y Pair bridge you can see the waters of the Lugwy cascading over the rocks and a mile or two up river there are the famous Swallow Falls. The Courthouse has an enviable location close to the centre of the village yet in a tranquil spot adjacent to the River Conwy. There are many scenic and varied walks from the village itself and we provide printed directions for our guests. The mountains of Snowdonia - and Mount Snowdon itself with it's 8 routes to the summit - are a short drive from the village. Also within a short drive are the most amazing adventure activities on ; offer at 3 Zipworld sites and the country's only man-made surf lagoon - Surf Snowdonia. North Wales has some of the best beaches in the country including the 3 mile long sandy beach at Black Rock. The famous Bodnant Gardens and Portmeirion are also close by
