The Haven is an absolutely fantastic place to stay. There's 6 bedrooms, 5 with ensuite and the 6ths with a shower room just feet away. The place really is kitted out to take up to 12 people and the house is so big that it wouldn't feel cramped. ...

This is a large private house that has 6 bedroom (5 of these are ensuite, one with a bath/separate shower/toilet/sink, the rest having just showers/toilets and sinks) with a sixth shower room on the ground floor and an additional one toilet offered separately. The accommodation is over two floors, with one bedroom and shower room downstairs, alongside a large kitchen, sitting room, dining room and games room complete with pool table/air hockey to keep the entertainment going. With parking for up to 6 cars, an outside secluded terrace with views over the hills this property is a great place to stay.
Leyburn Market Place is the historic and social heart of Leyburn, a traditional market town in Wensleydale, North Yorkshire. The broad, open square has been central to the town since Leyburn was granted a market charter in 1686, allowing it to grow as the main commercial centre of the upper dale. The Market Place is notably spacious, reflecting its original role in livestock trading, and is framed by characterful 18th- and 19th‑century stone buildings. One of its main landmarks is Leyburn Town Hall (built in 1856), which reinforces the square’s long-standing civic importance. At the core of the space is the traditional Friday market, held every week and still a major part of town life. Stalls typically sell local produce, meats, cheeses, baked goods, plants, clothing, and household items. The market has a relaxed, rural feel and attracts both locals and visitors without losing its community character. Surrounding the square is a strong mix of independent shops, cafés, pubs, and small businesses, making the Market Place lively but unhurried throughout the week and particularly busy on market days. It also serves as a natural meeting point for residents, walkers, and tourists. Beyond the weekly market, the Market Place is used for community events and seasonal activities, benefiting from its open layout and central location. Its position near the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park makes it a gateway between the town and the surrounding countryside, with many visitors passing through on their way to attractions such as Leyburn Shawl, Bolton Castle, and the Wensleydale Railway and great for countryside walks. There are great nearby pubs and restaurants including The Golden Lion Hotel, Leyburn, The Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton and many more.. Overall, Leyburn combines historic significance, everyday practicality, and strong community identity, remaining a living focal point rather than a purely historic setting.
