Set in the Howardian Hills Natural Landscape, this is a quiet, generously-sized space to relax. The bedroom and en suite are private, tucked away from the rest of the family house, with a shared hallway. The space can accommodate up to 3 adults, or a family- there is a double bed, a fold up bed and a smaller single. This rural setting has no light or sound pollution, ensuring a restful sleep. Bathroom products are refilled locally and recycling is encouraged. Continental breakfast is provided. Sharing a hallway, the suite is accessed up the private stairway. (Parking is on the shared driveway.) The space consists of a small landing, leading to both the en suite and the large guest suite. The bedroom has a double aspect to the north and east, with views across the large gardens towards the moors. There is a wardrobe, chest of drawers and dressing table for use, plus a small breakfast table and two chairs to enjoy breakfast. A kettle, teas, coffee, hot chocolate, water and milk are provided for your convenience. The en suite has a full sized bath plus a monsoon and hand held shower with south facing window. Guests have access via the shared hallway to their private suite. The garden is welcome to be shared- there are hammocks and a fire pit. There is plenty of room but please note we have young children (and a dog and chickens). This is a space in a family house, but the room and en suite is private from the main part of the building. You are welcome to use the garden, (please note we also may be using it) but we will happily keep to ourselves as much as possible. We aim to provide as ecological a setting as we can: much of the bedding is organic, bathroom products are refilled locally, toilet paper is ‘Serious Tissues’, and cleaning products are marine friendly and ethically sourced; our WiFi is a local company and electricity is Octopus. We encourage composting and recycling where possible.
We are a family with three young children, a cat, a dog, and chickens. Having spent time travelling around, we are excited to be able to return the favour and provide a lovely space in which to enjoy your time away. This is a family house that is now in it's third generation of maternal inheritance- it is very special to us and we are working to develop it as a permaculture/organic space in order to host more people. We are happy to socialise, but equally happy to respect privacy and "time off".
We love living so rurally: there is zero light pollution, and the night skies can be amazing. We have lots of wildlife (keep a look out for deer in the garden and field). Castle Howard and the Arboretum are 15 minutes down the road, offering spectacular grounds and buildings, the North York Moors are a short drive away, and the coast is roughly an hour away. Similarly, York is 45 minutes drive, and it is easy to access the Park and Ride, to avoid traffic and parking charges in the centre. Down the road in Brandsby there is a stall selling freshly made sourdough bread, and jams, (and plants!). Easingwold is down the road, which is a charming town with a village feel, and has a good playground, skate park and small wood for walking.
