Shakespeare's Globe Theatre

Deep in the backstreets of the Santa Cruz district, this became the blueprint for many swanky Andalusian palaces. The man who thought it up—the Marquis of Tarifa—came back from a grand tour of Europe in the early 16th century with the idea to combine Mudéjar splendor and Italian Renaissance style. The result is the amazing Pilate’s House – you won't want to miss it.

Did a booked/paid tour there early in the day, and returned...

Did a booked/paid tour there early in the day, and returned to a performance in the evening. The tour had too much sitting and being 'instructed', though interesting. The performance was great! Book well in advance to get a good seat, and a cushion as the seats are just wood. Take woollies. Take a poncho even if seated, as damp air blows about. If standing, have a poncho, raincoat, hoodie and wellies and be prepared to stand for up to 3 hours. Earliest birds can grab the misericord ledge around the edges. (No brollies allowed during the performance.) It tipped down the night we went. Actors stay dry(ish) as the stage has a roof.
