The private onsen was the best part of the trip. It is on the deck and you can literally spend hours soaking in the nature. In addition, the staff was beyond lovely and were extremely helpful. They even offered to draw me a map of the different walking routes. The food was also amazing at the restaurant. The chicken and pork were good as well as the hida beef. Room is very spacious. It is traditional Japanese so there is no standup shower but does how the stuff for a good onsen soak.

Getting tickets to Hirayu no Mori onsen was amazing. The staff was very nice and kindly let us sit in the common area until check in. They also held luggage for us, which I appreciate very much. The onsen itself in the hotel was also very great. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.

Location, its very close to kamiclochi, its quite, small. Its more like an inn than a ryokan and it provides a great experience - please note that bathroom is shared ( at least for some of the rooms).

Property manager was incredible. He did everything: breakfast, ski rental, front desk, etc; I have no idea how he was able to do it all. Rooms were comfy, beds had lots of blankets. The onsen was a great experience. The ski rentals were reasonably priced. Everyone should stay here and enjoy this hotel.

Very wonderful place and people! When we got there, realized that we had left a bag on the bus to Norikura-Kogen. After talking to the staff at Komakusa Hotel, they painstakingly went through a lot of trouble (even going all the way to Matsumoto!) to get the bag back for us. Truly appreciate the effort and help :D The food was also amazing, and it was a good distance from all the major attractions. The hotel itself is amazing, so clean and neat, with comfortable beds. The onsen was sulfur-based so a new and wonderful experience. Would highly recommend this place, 素晴らしかったです!

Clean room, Nice owner, Testy foods, Good onsen

A simple place but everything is maintained and homely. The staff was amazing, they welcomed us so nicely. They were pleasant and patient. We felt at home. The onsen is a real pleasure! If we could, we would definitely stay another night!

This hotel is exceptional, they served sumptuous breakfast and dinner, made us felt like VIP. We really enjoyed it so much, but my kids weren't really enjoyed it, guess they are too young for this. The outdoor onsen is really good, you have to take small ropeway to go down, sounds adventurous right? You must try it, don't miss it, feel so special to go onsen under the snow. You have to buy special clothes if you want to go mix onsen, but normally women will not go there, as there is another one for women only. There is no men only outdoor onsen, so man have to buy special pants to go in. There is indoor onsen too which located inside the hotel building. Our room looks new, i think it renovated, and I like the chilling area at the lobby with the real charcoal heater.

The simple self-service tatami rooms were super comfy and the dinner was simple, extraordinary, and with very local ingredients. The woman who runs the hotel is amazingly friendly and accommodating. Everything is simple and clean. Don’t expect the four seasons, but it is a great stay inside Kamikochi, especially as a first night before longer hikes. The bathrooms are clean and the view from our bedroom was fantastic. It’s also perfect for avoiding crowds early in the morning and later in the afternoon. Also, electricity shuts down at 9 however we were already asleep by then so it didn’t bother us.

Where do I even begin? Our stay at Nakanoyu Onsen Ryokan was absolutely magical - from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. We happened to stay here for my birthday, and it quite literally made my whole day (and then some). The attention to detail blew me away - slippers perfectly laid out at the entrance, labeled cubbies for your shoes, and the kindest, most welcoming staff you could imagine. Everyone was so cheerful and genuinely eager to help. I was lucky to meet Tomoko, who went above and beyond to make our stay seamless. She helped us plan an early breakfast before our morning hike, ensured we’d have dinner ready when we returned, and even mapped out our hiking route - complete with tips on what to expect and safety precautions. I can’t thank her enough; she truly made the experience special. The location was another wonderful surprise - so close to Mt. Yake-dake, which made for an incredible day of hiking. We weren’t at all disappointed to be outside Kamikōchi - if anything, this spot was even better: peaceful, authentic, and surrounded by stunning nature. Every meal was a highlight. The traditional breakfasts and dinners were beautifully prepared and absolutely delicious. The servers were so kind in explaining how to enjoy each dish (which we really appreciated as first-timers!). After three days, it genuinely felt like home. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Everyone at Nakanoyu Onsen Ryokan goes out of their way to make sure you’re having the best possible stay. I’ll 100% be back - and would recommend staying here over Kamikōchi any day. ✨🏔️
