We had such a fun time in Santa Cruz with our kids! There is so much to do, and we loved how easy it was to find something fun around every corner. Between the Boardwalk, downtown, the beach, and all the kid-friendly activities, we never ran out of things to explore. It’s such a fun family destination, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

San Jose has a lot to explore and easy links to San Francisco for Day Trips {Light Rail and CalTrain options mean you are not reliant on Uber and Waymo for getting around or between the cities}. Central San Jose has a wide variety of Restaurants, Art Museums, activities for Kids, pleasure walks such as at the Japanese Gardens. A couple must visit Restaurants in the San Pedro Market area would be "Must Be Thai and Bar," food was delicious and is somewhere I would happily revisit along with "The Farmers Union." Both are good for meals with more than 1 person. For lunches I would recommend "City Bagels" on West Santa Clara Street for something Grab and Go or Sit and Eat as seating is available, as well as "Poppy and Claro" in the square of the San Jose Art Museum. Travelling around the city you can do by walking, by tram or street car on the Blue and Green Lines, Buses, Ride Hails with Uber and Waymo, however due to the nature of the city depending on your Hotel location you may find getting into a location where you have access to the some of these to take you right into a central location may be a walk so plan ahead. Overall, San Jose have a decent amount of activities and a good variety of places to eat, and is a very walkable and easy to get around place to visit.

The Napa area has much to offer for wine-lovers, adventure seekers, and families. There are activities, good restaurants, wine-tasting opportunities everywhere. My only complaint this trip was the construction in process of two huge buildings right downtown, one a hotel, that seem way out of proportion to the lower-rise charm of downtown Napa. Napa has both trendy and old-world charm blended together, and these two modern square high-rises just seem unnecessary and out of character; from what I saw & heard, the existing range of high-end and more moderate hotels and b-n-bs were not near capacity, and this should be a busy time.

The area of South San Francisco where the hotel is located...

The area of South San Francisco where the hotel is located is fine for taking lonely walks around what is essentially a business park, but there's not much to walk to. (There is a Starbucks and a few restaurants about 1/4 mi. to the north.) South San Francisco's downtown, which has a train station that takes you to the airport or downtown San Francisco francisco, contains restaurants open in the evening, is on the other side of the railroad tracks and a little hard to get to unless you're a jogger.

I was over charged $200 after specifically telling the clerk i paid on Bookin.com 2xs. She still charged me another $200 which I discovered when my card declined for dinner. (Not everyone has a lot of disposable income) I did not like have a room facing traffic although it did not bother me too much. The ceiling of the room was dingy. I could not find the remote and politely. asked for a new one. Upon my return I saw 2 remotes instead of 1. I think it was petty for the clerk to leave 2 remotes proving to me that I indeed did have one. They could have just taken the extra one and shook their head in silence, but someone felt the need to prove me wrong… The clerks were not welcoming at the hotel the day I checked in. It seemed like they had attitudes. The next day the clerks were much nicer.

Quite a few homeless people, some of whom were mentally ill, were walking all around and lying on the sidewalks--even on Shattuck, one of the main streets, which was close to the hotel. Many of the downtown storefronts were empty. The contrast between poor and rich people was striking--and sad.
