Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Maybe slight miscommunication between staff ( under new management at the time) but issues rectified as soon as possible. Great and delicious food.

Excellent staff, couldn’t be more helpful if they tried and really spoilt our puppy who came along for the journey too. Absolutely stunning place already looking to come back in the new year. Moved us to a different table when asked due to our puppy being reactive to other dogs in the restaurant.

The Landlady was very pleasant and helpful, check in is at 4pm and she was right on time, showed us to our room and explained the features. view from the room was of the courtyard, the water pressure and temperature was more than needed. The bathroom was modern and clean, the room is located in a public house and the bar was friendly and had a good selection of local beers.

Very interesting building, and luxuriously appointed. Excellent position next to a park but close enough for shopping, facilities etc. The Thai restaurant is a wonderful bonus!

Hanmer is a tiny village lost in time; it has a large mere for wild swimming and woodland walk; the handsome ancient church is open daily and the view down its churchyard towards the Mere is a delight. If visiting after dark, take a torch as there is limited street lighting which all adds to the charm. We ate in the Hanmer Arms for breakfasts and evening meal, both using quality products and well prepared. It is ideally suited to casual travellers or overnight wedding guests.

The greatest asset of this hotel is its staff. I felt very well looked after during my stay, they seemed to have a genuine concern in making my stay comfortable. Just as an example, as I am not an early riser on holiday I usually just skip breakfast - this is the first time that I wake up and find my breakfast outside my room, and without even having asked for it. That's even more remarkable considering that this is an establishment run by a hard working family with (very nice) kids and not a plush fancy hotel with loads of staff :)

Breakfast was good with a few unusual options in addition to the standard breakfast. The quality of the evening meals was excellent though service could be slow especially for desserts. I stayed at the Hanmer thirty years ago and while it's lost a lot of its quirky charm it's still a lovely place to stay

The hotel and pub are huge and have plenty of character. Both rooms were clean and nicely decorated, and the staff were friendly and helpful when we requested a room change. The first room also had a handy tea and coffee area with a sink and fridge.
