The location is superb… the view and the main building is very appealing. The fact that dinner and breakfast is included at a level comparable to a Michelin restaurant add a ton of value to staying here.

The location is brilliant . Really quiet and next door to the Harry Potter landmark of the cottage where he was born ! We were greeted on arrival and made welcome . It's a short walk to The anchor where we had a really good dinner and admired all the Christmas lights . Lacock has very little in the way of street lights so it was even more magical at Christmas . The four poster bed was comfy and the little house was warm and cosy . Breakfast was brought to us at the time of our choosing , there's a very good coffee machine . Everything was clean and we have no complaints .

Well worth walking round and especially the church area where a delightful little street with monument shows part of the older village. Lot's of stuff local to Melksham to make the village a centre from which to explore the area.

We only stayed the night, it seemed like it would of been a nice busy town at one time, it was a Saturday night and there didn’t seem to be many people out it seemed a little run down with empty shops but I suppose most towns are like that now

Melksham is a busy town whose main claim to fame is its close proximity to the historic abbey and village of Lacock and the short drive to the equally historic town of Bradford on Avon. It is also a relatively short distance from the M4, making a perceived ideal location for a stopover for those heading to the southwest. However, upon reflection, it may be better to consider other locations, particularly if planning an extended stay.

Melksham is a good base for touring the local area but the town is a little run down with no real quality shops. Quite a lot of traffic passing through the high street but there is a Sainsburys and Waitrose in town so easy to get provisions. Two nice pubs Kings Head and Market Tavern serving good food plus there are Indian, Italian restaurants and various fast food outlets. Also a Wetherspoons pub we went in for a drink but would avoid if we went to Melksham again

Plenty of shops, even more hairdressers (we counted 16!)

Plenty of shops, even more hairdressers (we counted 16!) and a bank with free withdrawals. The Tourist Information Office was great and with plenty of information to hand. Whilst the Kings Arms does have a restaurant, we thought it was a little pricey so we went exploring. There are plenty of takeaways inlcuing Thai, kebabs etc and a dine in / takeaway curry house. For us, the best place to eat was The Market Tavern, just a few yards away from the Hotel. Outstanding cuisine to suit all tastes, utterly fabulous service, a good range of Ales, Ciders and Gins and the food was served quickly. Plenty of walks to do around the town but if you're after a good night life then you won't find much there. Melksham has a Sainsbury's, Waitrose and "Pound" shops, Greggs etc. Overall a beautiful town and worth the visit.

I've stayed in countless hotel rooms and this was one of the best! The room was spotless, I mean really spotless!. The hosts went above and beyond by including things like books, a fan, tablet, tea/coffee, toiletries etc. All things you wouldn't expect or would pay more for. It's priced at about half of what it's worth to be honest. Its quiet, safe parking and the bed is super comfy. I slept really well ready for my big day out at the race track. I can't recommend this enough!!!!

A great location for us. My parents were visiting friends who live in Melksham, my daughter and I were the chauffeur to get them there. The apartment was simply perfect, everything plus more was provided to ensure a very pleasant stay. We visited Stonehenge and Avebury on a perfect Spring day and thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

The house was spacious, clean and comfortable. The facilities provided included toiletries which was unusual in rentals like this, but very welcome. The house was in a very convenient location for us, and was close to a local shop and takeaway, and just a few minutes drive from Melksham town centre.
