Host was very helpful in the pre-booking stage. Lovely to have some breakfast items there and a proper kitchen in case we had wanted to cook. Easy walk to shops.

Great location (there is traffic noise - but what do you expect when you are located next to a major road?!) Beautiful building. Gorgeous room and the 2 dining options are excellent.

We loved this stay. Everything from the room size in the Garden Suite, the natural lighting, the gorgeous bathroom and decor, the bed was comfortable and the staff were very welcoming and approachable. We ate in the bistro downstairs on several occasions and found the hotel to be in the most central location. Would absolutely stay again and refer to others. The roses blooming in the courtyard were just stunning!

Featherston has been called the poor cousin of the Wairarapa compared to Greytown. It is less bustling but there are interesting antique and book shops, a great Saturday produce market and the destination Royal Hotel. It is a town doing its best to improve. Pity about the eyesore on the main street - a decaying building badly in need of repair or removal.

Nice little Wairarapa city and good coffee shops and bakeries. Saturdays is a veggie market that people were talking about cheap prices and good quality veggies. Dinner at Bric and Bow was very tasty and varied. Staff at the restaurant helpful and knowledgeable. Easy to drive around and close to wineries. The Royal Hotel is definitely worth viewing, it has a nice architecture and kept features from the past.

For a small town it has much to see. There are many interesting shops to explore, the museum was fascinating, teaching me NZ history I never knew. The eating places were plentiful and we had delicious food the whole weekend.

A good stop for a night or two on a trip up the east coast of the north island to Greytown, then Havelock North and then Taupo. Has some nice cafes, op shops, antique stores and after coming over the range is a good break before heading further. Some lovely old homes and gardens to wander around and see. Great shop to buy cheeses, chutneys and other products - called Cheez It. Locals very friendly and some great bookstores that we enjoyed looking through. Also has a book festival annually, which we are going to look into. Local wineries not far away.
