The charming cottage is set in a forest of gum trees, with a separate suite for guests. Our hosts were very welcoming, and our suite had everything we needed. A short drive (20 to 30 minutes) takes you to Rosebud, McCrae or Dromana. Warmly...

The decor was lovely and very comfortable with pretty accessories. The breakfast was very generous and included treats to have with tea and coffee. It was very peaceful and the alpacas and horses added to the farm stay.

The homestead was built in the 1920's (Edwardian style). It was relocated from Canterbury in Melbourne to Summerhill Farm. While not slick and sophisticated, its air of faded traditional country will appeal to people with a sense of history and an appreciation of old-style decoration. The Cottage (also relocated) dates from the 1950's. It still has many original fittings, and yes, in the best vintage manner, it is a little worn around the edges. It also boasts five "c's" - clean, comfortable, convenient, cosy and country.
I have always lived in the country and am a farmer by heart. When my children were young I bred Welsh ponies, but now I am now involved in the Alpaca industry. Cria (baby alpacas) are particularly appealing! In the past I travelled overseas - Europe, Asia and America - but now I enjoy welcoming guests to my part of the world.
Everyone knows the Mornington Peninsula as "Melbourne's playground", and rightly so with its beaches, wineries and numerous tourist attractions. But somehow it manages to maintain a peaceful rural quality, with undulating hills, green pasture and paddocks of ordered vineyards. It is such a beautiful area.
