"St Albans is a lovely, compact city with a good range of independent and high street shops (and very few empty units, unlike other places). It's very walkable, the Abbey and grounds and other historic sights make for added interest alongside the many medieval buildings (including a number of ancient pubs). You are spoilt for choice for places to eat and drink. It's great for an overnight stop, or a short break. It's worth saying that the main centre is at the top of a couple of big hills, but it's all pretty flat once you're there."

Kings Langley

14 hotels
One of 215 reviews:
"Visiting Kings Langley and the Harry Potter Warner Bros Studios is an enchanting experience that transports you into the magical world of Harry Potter. Kings Langley, a historic village with charming streets and friendly locals, serves as the perfect gateway to the Harry Potter experience. The village offers quaint shops, cozy pubs, and beautiful walking paths, providing a peaceful retreat. The highlight of the trip, however, is undoubtedly the Warner Bros Studio Tour. As you step into the studios, you're immediately immersed in the wizarding world. The tour offers a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the Harry Potter films, from detailed sets and intricate costumes to props and animatronics. Standouts include the breathtaking Great Hall, Diagon Alley, and the Forbidden Forest. The tour also provides fascinating insights into the filmmaking process, including special effects and makeup. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, enhancing the overall experience. The gift shop is a treasure trove for Harry Potter fans, offering a wide range of merchandise. In conclusion, a visit to Kings Langley and the Harry Potter Warner Bros Studios is a must for any Harry Potter fan. It's a magical journey that leaves you with a deeper appreciation for the films and the immense work that went into creating them."

This is a lovely, old building with clean and comfortable rooms. Unfortunately the heatwave that hit England made the rooms extremely hot and stuffy but they did supply an oscillating fan for everyone. Being able to.open more windows would be an improvement but the staff were so helpful and friendly, plus they were all suffering the heat as well. The breakfast was good with an excellent choice of cooked items as well as cold. I had lunch there one day and it was also excellent. Top marks for trying to help everyone live with the heatwave!!!

Town was pretty good, and a good selection of shops ,cafes and restaurants There is a lot of modernising going on at the moment in town centre, and it could do with a couple of new pubs in the new town area, you need to go closer to old town for more choice. The hotel staff were helpful, and our room was clean. The hotel is in great need of updating, as it clearly was once lovely but now looks shabby and tired. It was closely situated to 2 pubs where you could get meals at a discount if you were residing at the hotel. The hotel restaurant wasn't doing meals other than breakfast.

I booked a one-night stay with 15 days of parking.

I booked a one-night stay with 15 days of parking. Unfortunately, five weeks before my trip, TUI cancelled my holiday. I contacted the hotel immediately to request either a refund or a change of date, as the cancellation was completely beyond my control. Disappointingly, the hotel refused both requests and would not offer any flexibility whatsoever. As a result, I am now £179 out of pocket through no fault of my own. Very poor customer service and a complete lack of understanding for circumstances outside a customer's control. I would not book here again.

Being used to house refugees

Being used to house refugees Dirt filthy Pillows stained and smelly only 1 small hand towel and 1 bath towel in room just a rundown awful property, holes in the carpets on the stairs, windows not been cleaned for months and months so you couldn't see out of them, toilet seat dirty and stained, shower door dangerous, Refugee males sitting outside of reception on phones smoking, with their children running round the car park and kicking footballs near all of the cars. It needs to decide if it wants to be a hotel or a hostel. not what i was expecting for over 100 pounds a night. And was told on arrival chef was going home at 6.30pm as they had no dinner bookings, so no food on premises and we checked in after a long day working and traveling at 5.30pm. I would not recommend this hotel sadly.
