I love the house; it is cozy and beautifully designed. The breakfast options, whether Western or Japanese, were superb. The highlight of my stay was the wonderful hospitality. Tai and his parents were exceptional hosts. Tai’s restaurant recommendations were excellent, and he even made reservations for us. Although Soy is located outside of town, it’s just one bus ride away. If they're available, the hosts are more than happy to drive us to and from town.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is located in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station.

Perfect oasis to rejuvenate! Absolutely stunning architecture throughout the hotel. Family who owns the hotel are incredibly kind with a touch of humor. Highly recommend staying here if you are staying in Takayama. The Hida Folk village is about a 35 minute walk from there and then you can continue on the town afterwards.

The atmosphere and the layoutbof the building is intriguing. The onsen is beautiful and satisfying. Nice meals as well. Also the staff is very welcoming.
