We loved the staff, the location, the food, the cleanliness, the vibe!

Location, character of property, personnel were always ready to address questions or needs, particularly Wendy.

Everything was absolutely brilliant for our stay ,the local is fantastic and parking was at the front door ,the room very cosy and warm ,bed very comfortable and shower amazing

It is wonderfully central for everything in the town, it was wonderfully cool during the brutal heatwave, the staff are very helpful and kind. It was also lovely to have my own separate space and to be able to come and go as I pleased. Having my own little lounge was also handy.

Old traditional building inside and out, open fires, old paintings, and wooden interior,in stunning location, kept very clean, easy to get from accommodation too pub/restaurant area.

Breakfasts were great, staff very friendly and helpful.

The room was easily accessible, no check in/out was required. It was clean and comfortable and would have loved to stay longer. I stayed in a single room which was located in a very peaceful area of the grounds. The room was well presented, the bed was comfy, the tcmf was fantastic and they even had a little fridge. I would definitely stay there again .

We liked how easy it was to check in and out. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom with the big tub and waterfall shower was a beautiful touch.

Wonderful stay in the heart of Ambleside!

Very clean and the room was massive. Very friendly staff who couldn't do more to help. The continental breakfast was very fresh and there was a huge amount to choose from.

We stayed in a family room and it was so convenient for us. We were on the top floor and loved the view from the window. We had our own bathroom but it was across the corridor from our room which was actually nice. The location in Ambleside couldn't be any better and we walked steps to restaurants and really to the trailhead of many walks.

People were so friendly Nothing was too much trouble Highly recommend

Wonderful location in the heart of Ambleside convenient to shops and restaurants and nearby walks at Rydal Water and Grassmere and on the peaks. Also close to Coniston Water.

We truly enjoyed our stay, and we were greeted warmly upon arrival. Clean, comfortable room, and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious, and we had numerous options to choose from including traditional Scottish and contemporary options. We also enjoyed visiting with the sisters who manage the property. We highly recommend the Unicorn when staying in Ambleside!

Quiz night was great fun even for we Americans. Meals were excellent and breakfast offerings were generous. Staff were friendly and helpful. Central location in Ambleside was great.

Excellent location in Ambleside and a good base to explore the Lake District. Loved the breakfast selection.

Andy was a great host. Everyday at breakfast it was important to connect with Andy and get some ideas for our day's schedule. It was nice to form a trusting bond to start the day off well at a good, solid English breakfast. The hotel had parking because it is hard to find car park for a long stay. The location was perfect because it was a close walk to the Roman site and the boat dock as well as the bus station and the city. It was a friendly place with a very convenient location.

I had a wonderful stay at Barnes Fell. I was greeted by Ethna, who run's everything there. She is a super sweet woman who was very accommodating! The location in Ambleside was perfect, and the apartment was clean and comfortable.
