The owner and staff (and local patrons) were extremely friendly and welcoming. The room was sizable and clean with a very comfortable king sized bed. The food was good, the bar is lovely with an excellent selection of single malts. I would strongly recommend staying at this lovely pub/hotel.

The property had so much character it was very warm it felt homely and welcoming very clean and had everything you needed throughout the stay and even extras you don’t expect to get on trips away the host left milk in the fridge coffee pods for the coffee machine and even a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the fridge and a box of after eight chocolates to enjoy on your stay plus all the cleaning products condiments and cooking essentials which isn’t seen very often in places we’ve visited before it’s was amazing went above and beyond

All 4 of us absolutely loved the 2 rooms that are there. The scenery is beautiful and the tiny town is pleasant and close to so many attractions. It would be great to have a longer stay there in the future. The yard is nice and it was very relaxing just sitting and enjoying the greenery and the sounds of the birds. Both the breakfast and the staff at the attached restaurant are so very excellent that I can't even tell you how much we appreciated the food and their kindness. Again, we would love to stay there again in the future.

The main attractions are of course Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle. I found Holy Island sadly over-commercialised, but the extensive selection of hotels, restaurants and cafes do give plenty of choice. It was an exceptionally hot day, so we dropped into a couple of pubs for refreshment for us and the dog. It is a very long walk out to Lindisfarne Castle and a steep climb at the end. Bamburgh Castle is absolutely spectacular. Very imposing from the outside and the Great Hall is impressive. Can't take the dog inside, but one of the restaurants is dog-friendly. Worth a visit.

I stayed in Lowick, a small village as I was joining a trip to Lyndisfarne which is only a few miles away. I liked the fact that the village is close to the A1 but far enough away to avoid the noise of this busy road.

Lowick is a pleasant little village near the Northumberland coastline. Great location to explore attractions nearby. Black Bull is a lovely place to stay and to eat. Limited accommodation so not too noisy. Great for couples.

Nice village, not much there but easy to get to all the places we visited. Lindisfarne, Bamburgh, Alnwick, seahouses to name but a few. The black bull inn is a fabulous pub and restaurant. Delicious food and the rooms are beautiful.

A beautifil wee village with 2 very good pub / restaurarants at either end. A great spot to decamp and strike out to Bamburgh or some of the other glorious spots in this beautiful part of the country. It's one of those places you'd think too good too not keep secret! Brilliant. We will be back there soon.

A very pretty village with two pubs, an excellent village store serving coffee and homemade sandwiches, quiches, etc. church open 24/7 and records available, residents welcoming and friendly. Lowick central to coast and countryside. Perfect.

Barbara and John are such warm and welcoming hosts. The Old Manse is a beautiful property with wonderful rooms and facilities. The breakfasts were delicious. Hattie the dog and Dyson the cat also gave us a warm welcome every time we returned. This B&B is perfectly located for visiting Lindisfarne, Bamburgh Castle, Berwick, and wonderful Northumberland beaches. There are wonderful walks and places of interest nearby. Lowick is a quiet and pretty village with two nice pubs that both serve good food. I highly recommend this B&B.

A beautiful house in a great location. The house was spotless, well appointed and in a great location for both the coast and hills. A lot of thought gone into making sure guests have everything they need. Lowick is a lovely village with a couple of pubs and shop for groceries. Excellent food at the Black Bull which is a 5 min walk away.

House is beautiful, spacious for 5 of us. Location lovely. Very nice touch with the wine honey and soap also with milk in fridge, for our first night, as it was a Sunday arrival. Lowick lovely village welcoming. With little shop next door to huckleberry house to have paper in the morning.
