The staff was super friendly and accommodating. When we asked about laundry services at the hotel or nearby, they offered to do some for us although it was not a regular offering. Wonderful people. The breakfast is great, and the restaurant very good too (and popular, so book ahead if you’re there at a busy time).

Room was well decorated, warm and inviting with a very comfortable bed. Quiet as not in or attached to the pub. I was really only there to sleep for a couple of nights, but it is roomy enough with sofa and side tables, so using it as a base for a longer holiday would be fine. Breakfast menu has several options, all generous. Nice pub, told the food is great for lunch and evenings too. Rural, with nice country views.

A little outside Thirst in the quiet countryside, it definitely helped to have a car as we were able to visit the White Horse, Thirsk, and the Yorkshire Dales easily. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and the food was great.

Thirsk is a lovely little market town, though there is little open on a Sunday, so we went to Northallerton where there is more to do on a Sunday. There are of course other options round about, but we were on our way home after attending a wedding on the Saturday.

Thirsk has plenty of activities for the older traveller .

Thirsk has plenty of activities for the older traveller .Travelling by car allows excursions to the Yorkshire country side.There are not any local service buses on a Sunday .A limited bus service (on a Sunday 3 x per day ),serves the adjacent tourist attractions/towns etc .Good quality shopping ,re-Clothes ,Shoes,Art work etc .The book shop cafe is an excellent venue.The museum,( free entry) All Creatures Great & Small (£10 entry) attractions are worth visiting .Many pubs, restaurants,cafes etc.Taxi ride railway station to centre £7.50.Many steps at Railway station.Air con in Golden Fleece bedrooms

A lovely market town in beautiful North Yorkshire.

A lovely market town in beautiful North Yorkshire. A good place to be based when you are touring around Yorkshire. Lots of cafes, shops, pubs and restaurants. Quite a vibrant atmosphere. Very helpful staff in the town's local Tourist office. They provided lots of useful information and free maps.

Lovely place, plenty of nice places to eat and drink, the highstreet was busy and full of shops to go into, people were lovely very welcoming, we ate at the lord Nelson pub and the food was phenomenal!

I was in Thirsk as i was attending a Wedding, therefore i did not see a lot of it. But what i saw was really nice, My description would be a lovely little village with plenty of shops and eateries. I would also say it is ideally placed as a base to visit Ripon Knaresborough Harrogate & York

Lovely little town with lots of different shops and places...

Lovely little town with lots of different shops and places to eat. The decoration of knitted toppers was a delight to see. If you can, drive up the Sutton Bank, on a good day you can see for miles. Lots of good walks up there too. Train station in the town but no parking available when we went to use it, so drove to park and ride in York for the day, it was an easy commute. Thirsk is a perfect place to stay when visiting Yorkshire.

Very handy location to the train station, nice quiet setting, everything that you could need was provided, welcome pack was perfect! Would definitely stay again, perfect stay for getting a bit of quiet whilst visiting York, also super handy for Thirsk racecourse!

Clean and comfortable. Host was friendly and helpful. Parking at the hotel was a great help. We were visiting All Creatures Great and Small museum, which was a couple of doors away and the centre of Thirsk was just a short walk away.
