The location was excellent, nice and quiet but near enough to walk into Ripon. Plenty of parking and excellent space inside with three good bedrooms.

A lovely stay to kick off the school holidays. The cottage is spacious and has everything you need to make it a home away from home. Feels very secluded but is only a 20 min walk or 5 min drive into Ripon. The garden is so peaceful and we spent a...

A great location on the edge of town, with open aspect to fields. Very well equipped kitchen and some nice “goodies” left as a treat.

Lovely well presented, clean property. On the edge of Ripon over looking fields. Ideal for country folk like us over looking countryside but near the amenities.

As a family of 6 comprising two great grandparents, two parents and two great grandchildren aged 4 and 2 years, the house/location/secure garden/easy access to our beloved Brimham Rocks was just what we wanted and needed. Liked full information...

This house was perfect for our 4 day stay in Ripon. Approx 15 min walk to the square, the location was ideal. Set back from the road there was very little noise pollution. The house was fully equipped and provided boardgames which was a nice...

Lovely accommodation. Very clean, modern and well appointed. Best of both worlds, feels isolated when it’s really easy to take a leisurely walk into Ripon. Definitely be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights at Little Harries Cottage. It was spacious, clean, well equipped and quiet with acres of paddocks surrounding it. Yet it is right on the edge of town and convenient to everything.

Company info

The Destination Ripon team is passionate about not only providing wonderful properties for people to stay, but also for sharing recommendations for Ripon. We want you to make the most of your time in our little city and to be able to enjoy its charms to the fullest. The company is young and seeking to grow by providing the best service and accommodation opportunities that we can. All three of our properties are different and have their own unique characteristics. The Old Telephone Exchange is cute, quirky, and set in the most peaceful of surroundings. It is a real getaway from the hubbub of every day life. Cathedral View is modern, tasteful, and perfectly placed for the city centre, yet still in a peaceful location. Lastly, and certainly not least, Little Harries Cottage is our most recent acquisition. It is full of charm, functional and ideal for the kids and pet pooch to run around in a safe and healthy environment.

Property info

Little Harries Cottage is tucked away down a quiet country lane on the outskirts of Ripon and yet is just 15 minutes’ walk from the centre of the city. The cottage has fenced gardens on all sides, there is a paddock to one side, and it is surrounded by arable farming land. It is a gem of a place, where you will be able to enjoy privacy and serenity. The property itself is spacious, sleeps six people, and has three bedrooms: 2 double rooms, and 1 with bunk beds for kids big and small! All linen is supplied for the bed, as well as bath and hand towels. The complimentary toiletries (shower gel, soap, hair conditioner and shampoo) are Sea kelp from Fine Scottish Soaps. These luxury products are perfect for sensitive skin, are dermatologically tested and have a wonderfully reviving coastal fragrance. The cottage is roomy and has plenty of storage space. It is a favourite for people with children and dogs. A travel cot is available on request, though you will need to bring your own bedding for it. We also supply a highchair. There is an eating area in the kitchen, as well as a dining room that doubles up as a room for playing board games. The large lounge has a smart TV. We will provide washing up liquid, a tea towel, dishcloth, soap, dishwasher tabs and a couple of laundry tabs. Please note, if you would like to bring your dog, there is a fee payable directly to the company. Contact us via the messaging system. Parking is available for two cars.

Neighborhood info

The city has many charms and is on a convenient and frequent bus route through to Harrogate and Leeds. Ripon Hornblower – every evening at 9pm the Hornblower sets the watch in the market square by blowing the Charter Horn. The “Wakeman” was appointed to stay awake and patrol the area during the hours of darkness between dusk and dawn so that the residents could sleep safely knowing that there was someone on “watch” over the city. They are usually very entertaining and worth going to see. Ripon Cathedral - Founded as a monastery by Scottish monks in the 660s. Ripon Cathedral is open to visitors every day from 8:30am to 6pm, Sundays from 12 noon with visitors welcome to explore this breath-taking building. Museums in Ripon include the Workhouse Museum & Garden, Prison & Police Museum, and the Courthouse Museum. Spa Gardens – this lovely, landscaped area is enjoyed by people of all ages and has a popular café and a miniature golf course. Ripon has a good choice of pubs and restaurants, takeaways, and cafes around the marketplace, on North Street, and on Eastgate (on the walk to the Cathedral from the square), among others. Ripon Canal – This is a pretty walk. There is a marina, a sailing club and a wetland along the route. Ripon Racecourse – A stay could be worked around regular race days. Just a handful of miles from Ripon: Fountains Abbey and Studley Water Garden – Abbey ruins, deer park, walking trails, and riverside walks. Fountains Abbey, Fountains, Ripon HG4 3DY. Open all year. Newby Hall and Gardens – Georgian house with a dolls house museum, sculpture park, restaurant, adventure playground, miniature railway, and narrow boat rides. Perfect for picnicking. Lightwater Valley Adventure Park – more than thirty rides and attractions including a mini roller coaster and carousel, tree top trails, walks, restaurant, and food cabins. Brimham Rocks – just under ten miles away, dramatic rock formations with stunning scenery. Part of the National Trust.
