What a wonderful hotel! It's about 500 years old but has been very well kept. Everything is in beautiful shape with the old wood paneling shining and a cozy fire in the fireplace. Our room was large and very clean with a gorgeous view out the window. The staff were all very helpful and they have a good secure place to keep bicycles overnight.

Room was very clean and well maintained although a little warm for our liking, but we opened the window and it was fine. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Food at both dinner and breakfast was excellent.

The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Exmoor. If you like hiking, trail running or mountain biking, it's a ideal place to stay with access to the trails from the doorstop. The cottage is very spacious and well equipped; you won't find any better self-catering accommodation in the area (and I've been visiting Exmoor for many years).

This is a beautiful place in a great location. My son and I enjoyed sitting in the sun, next to the river, drinking lager after a hard day's riding at the Dave Thorpe Honda Off-road Centre. The staff and other guests were really friendly, the food was excellent and the rooms comfortable and spotlessly clean.

The gentleman who checked us in was empathetic and went out of his way to give us a more suitable room. Chris, who served us breakfast the next morning told us about a fabulous bus service that took us to the sights so that we could have a driving break! The king room was fabulous and had a bath. Could have stayed longer had we not committed to other places 😭

It was a lovely location in a little village. Pleasantly surprised by the breakfast provided by the owners. The bread, scones, jams and cereals were wonderful. The interior was beautiful!

We booked the accommodation for ourselves and our daughter...

We booked the accommodation for ourselves and our daughter and son in law. As soon as we arrived the place and area looked wonderful. The accommodation is of a high standard with everything you need and it’s central to areas you would like to visit ie watersmeet, Lynmouth , Minehead. We were not that far away from Exmoor which was lovely to drive through and stop to take photos, seeing the wildlife was the added bonus. Where the accommodation was the Exmoor Inn offered food and drink, plus dogs are welcome. We were there the first night and had a lovely meal, the staff were very attentive and professional. We will definitely be back

Everything was way more than we expected.

Everything was way more than we expected. The staff were amazing - all of them not just a few. The owner Ed as really hands on and nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was very much home from home with bells on. We felt incredibly comfortable and welcome all the time whilst still being looked after. The hotel is very comfortable and they have somehow managed to create a very friendly homely environment whilst remaining professional and attentive. Very dog friendly which is great. Dogs not restricted at all but you wouldn’t know they are there - no sign of them or smells - immaculate. Of course there are always comments you can make about a hotel, especially when you have been there for 5 days. We can’t please all the people all the time so they say. These guys have got all the right things in the right place. I have been in the holiday let industry for a number of years and I am very hard to please but this hotel ticked every box. On top of this, if you are looking for an escape with amazing walks then look no further. We ate at the hotel every night. The food was amazing so no need to go else where. Gorgeous villages and trails all around but a car is a must if you plan to go out and about. Can’t wait to go back.

An accurate opinion of the other restaurants in the area would help as some other eating houses were disappointing! Simonsbath is a great location to start your walks from....it's also a great place for dog owners!

Very relaxing stay . Lovely hotel..Nice room with very comfortable large bed. Great breakfast.. Good restaurant & bar although i have to say I wasn’t overly impressed with the menu but the food was ok . Would definitely stay again:

Stunning location and very friendly staff. Both the hotel and apartments are super cosy. Great for walking trip and weekend away. Love that so many walks can be started straight from Simonsbath without having to drive.
