Lovly little town with lots of interesting shops and restaurants. We particularly enjoyed eating at the Ship Inn. Great pub food wigh very attentive staff. Melrose is a lovely place to stay and explore the Borders. The Abbey and Gardens are well worgh a visit.

The town has a variety of shops for its size, including two or three very good restaurants, The Town House in particular. It's an ideal base for some great country walks, including those around Abbotsford House; and for visits to several gardens and some old Abbeys.

I had been many years ago, this time I ame to attend the book festival. I found this brilliant accommodation easy to find. The people I met around Melrose were very friendly. There's a lot to Melrose. Definitely worth visiting. I will be back.

Melrose is a great location with good tourist attractions...

Melrose is a great location with good tourist attractions and excellent cafes and bars close to centre. Good town centre with nice niche shops. We used public transport to get there and tour the area which had an excellent service. Good apps available for buses (Border buses)

Melrose is a hidden gem in many ways, and this part of the country is often overlooked although it is very beautiful indeed. The town itself has plenty to offer, including a choice of restaurants and tourist attractions. A walk to the top of the Eildon Hill is a must if you are able.

Such a pleasant hotel, right in the middle of Melrose. Warm and welcoming on a grey and wet mid January day, we only stayed one night but slept really well and enjoyed the huge choice at breakfast. The room and bathroom were big, and our initial brief disappointment turned to joy when we opened the cupboard and found the kettle and loads of tea/coffee choices, and a small fan heater. It was all very clean. We didn't stay for dinner but judging by the quality of the breakfast (poached fish included) you would do well in the evening too.

We liked the location, in the center of the town, with good parking at the hotel. The staff were excellent from the check in to the cleaners, nice bar with reasonable prices, and the restaurant was really good. Although the building was getting a little tired cleanliness and service were both excellent.

Great atmosphere in the bar prior to check in. Room large and comfortable. The breakfast was freshly cooked and had the option to have porridge which was great. The staff and location were just right, the hotel was right in the centre of Melrose so ideal for wandering around the town

The staff at Burts Hotel were all very welcoming, friendly and very helpful. The beer garden was lovely in the afternoon sun. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal in the bistro and breakfast was superb. Melrose is a lovely Scottish town with lots of charm.
