"San Jose is a typical city, with some parts grittier than others. However, there are excellent restaurants and lovely views (especially walking from the Central Market to Chinatown), where you will see gorgeous vistas with the mountains right behind.
I highly recommend Amana for a dining experience you won't forget! Original food and excellent service."

"We ate at a few restaurants and they were great. I would recommend the ceviche at Nenes for sure. Another place to eat is Garra Pata. They cook your steaks on a fire pit, the bottle of wine, the food and service was so good I highly recommend that restaurant. We did use Uber while we were there as well but you can always use the taxi service too. Very easy to get around.
We did zip lining and a horseback ride around the volcano which was excellent. The ride service was great too. All in all I highly suggest La Fortuna."

"It felt safe walking about 7 min. to mall for dinner. Choices of licensed restaurants and food court. We had a pina colada and snacks at the first restaurant past the food court. Residential area close to airport. Shuttle driver was great. Kept us informed on how long it would take since traffic was heavy. I have already recommended the hotel to a traveller we met during our trip and I recommend it to all looking for a comfortable stay close to the airport."

"If you are looking to see monkeys and sloths, this is the place for you! Manuel Antonio National Park is full of wildlife and nature. There are also beaches for every type of tourist within the park.
It is an easy bus ride from Quepos (300-400 colones), about 15 minutes away.
If you want a good and cheap meal, I recommend street empanadas! Look for someone with a cooler or ask around."
"One of our favorite places was the Jaguar Resource Center- definitely worth a visit. Tours take place twice a day-9:30 and 11:30. You can book in advance on-line, or show up early. I also recommend Cahuita National Park although you need a private vehicle, or can take a tuk-tuk. If you want to see wildlife, hire a guide at the entrance, otherwise provide a suggested donation. Not all beaches are great for swimming... check water conditions daily."
"Loved the balcony and the pool
Also loved that the owner and property manager were ultra responsive
The apartment is well appointed with everything you could need and simple easy to understand check in instructions
Great sunsets off the balcony and entertaining beach scenes with surfers, horses, happy people"
"The cloud forest is unique. Stayed at Camino Verde B&B in St Elena. Highly recommend but very windy this time of year. A must is to go with a guide as difficult if not impossible to view critters with naked eye. Ate at Letty's, local simple soda. Also, went on guided night jungle tour thru Camino Verde Tours excellent. Both tours included transportation.
We did the hanging bridges at Selvatura-nice to see canopy but do not expect to see animals or birds. I would skip next time.
2 night minimum stay is required to see all.
Note both the night tour requires lots of up and down hiking but moderate. Hanging bridges easy. Cloud forest tour easy to moderate. You can stay longer (than the tour) in Monteverde Cloud forest and hike to a scenic lookout but it was socked in with mist the day we went.
All in all, I would recommend this area as 1 of many others on your trip to Costa Rica."
"We have been to Costa Rica 20 times in the past 25 years. Liberia airport is very convenient and easier to rent a car etc. compared to San Jose. We love that there is a direct flight of only 5 hours from Denver."
"It is very easy to get around with a golf cart in Tamarindo. I recommend staying in town on the beach. This was our second trip to Tamarindo. The first time we got a car and the second time we got a golf cart. The golf cart was the way to go. All the restaurants were amazing. We did not have one bad meal. The servers and people are so nice and are always happy and upbeat, Fly into Libria if you are going to Tamerindo and have your hotel arrange the pickup for you from the Airport. Do the adventure package with zip lines and all the activities possible. We did and had an amazing trip with our 13, 14, and 16 year old girls. The entire family is already talking about making another trip."
"We loved the little town, Gigi Brown was down a ways so we were at peace to sleep. You can hear the howler monkeys all day and night! So amazing! We took an ATV to Montemzuma for a day to the waterfalls and with "Crazy Carlos", I highly recommend finding this guy! He made our day! And we have amazing couples photos because of him. Jumping off waterfalls and he took us to some amazing places we would have never been."

Located in Savegre, 29 miles from Manuel Antonio National Park, Lapazul Boutique Hotel provides accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace.

Lapazul is an absolute gem—easily one of the most memorable places I’ve stayed at anywhere in the world. The views are simply breathtaking, perched high in the jungle with the ocean in the distance, and the chance to spot local wildlife adds to the magic. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed, and have everything you need to truly relax.
But what really sets Lapazul apart is the top-notch hospitality. The warmth and attention to detail from the staff is among the best I’ve ever experienced—genuine, personal, and truly caring. Special mention to Mr. Jorge, whose first-class service and warm presence made us feel incredibly welcome. He is, without a doubt, one of the best hosts I’ve ever encountered at any hotel in the world.
And the food? Outstanding. Every dish is full of flavor and heart, far surpassing the local restaurants in town. The menu is focused and perfectly executed, with ingredients that shine. You can taste the passion in every bite.
If you’re looking to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature and comfort, this is the place. Plus, it’s just a short drive down to the beach at Dominical. I can’t recommend it enough.

Everything was great, family business running their Lodge with so much love. They were very welcoming and flexible to accommodate us. Our stay was fabulous, we saw sloths in the forest right next to our room and heard the forest night life, fabulous experience! We had everything we needed for our night there, highly recommended! Small attentions worth everything, would definitely come again.
